Say ‘hello’ to the world’s most comfortable menstrual cup.
Hey, Hello USA fam!
We’ve all been there: it’s day one of your period, you’re feeling BLEH and crampy. You’re in your comfiest PJs, curled up on the couch with a hot water bottle and an insane amount of chocolate as you work your way through Netflix’s best (and worst) rom-coms.
BUT you still can’t relax. Maybe your tampon feels like it’s drying you out, your pad is giving you nappy rash, or you’re just feeling anxious about dealing with another leakage situation.
It’s 2021 - surely we have a more comfortable way to manage menstruation?
Actually, yes, we do!
For too long, products have had very little innovation or design improvements. Weirdly, despite half the world having periods since, well, forever, we somehow accepted this without complaint. But that stops now.
We designed Hello Cup menstrual cups to be the best thing in the Period Town. They are safe, reliable and super comfortable. We want you to feel secure when you have your period. Say goodbye to period discomfort and anxiety and meet the world’s most comfortable cup.
The realities of traditional period products
Ever experienced irritation and itchiness on the skin on your vulva when using pads and tampons? You’re not alone, and there are a few reasons for this.
-
Pads and tampons sit up close to some of the most sensitive skin on your body. This is why it’s so important the materials used are as gentle on your skin as they are on the earth. Both pads and tampons are made from non-breathable materials (some pads as much as 90% plastic) in order to maximize their absorbency. The resulting lack of airflow leads to a build-up of heat and moisture – even more so when it’s warm out, or during exercise.
-
Traditional pads and tampons go through very harsh chemical treatments in the manufacturing process to make them more absorbent and adhesive, giving them that bleach-white color. The FDA is concerned about the long-health impact these chemicals might have, and have noted allergic reactions (such as red rashes and irritation) in some people to materials in these products..
- Tampons are designed to absorb menstrual blood, but they can take things a little too far and wick away natural vaginal moisture, leaving you overly dry and sensitive (as if you didn’t have enough to deal with!).
But, here comes Hello Cup with the good news (for you, and your vagina)
The Hello Cup is made of medical-grade thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), which is smooth, non-drying, and contains zero BPAs, toxins, or other nasty chemicals that irritate the skin or throw your vagina off its natural balance.
Designed by a nurse to work in harmony with your body, the result is a carefree downstairs without the itchiness, redness and constant irritation. It’s a win-win-win.
So, by now we know the Hello Cup is your one-way ticket to a happy vajayjay. But, how does it actually feel?
Let’s talk about that.
Slip into something more comfortable
You may be thinking ‘but how will a cup the size of my palm fit comfortably inside my vagina?’
Well, we’ve got some good news. Not only does it fit, but – when inserted correctly – you can’t even tell you’re wearing it.
The flexible material moves with your body, and a smart little punchdown fold makes insertion a whole lot easier than you might think (with a little practice, but don’t worry, we’ve got all the tips you need here).
The Hello Cup holds 3 tampons worth of blood, so that’s a bunch of trips to the bathroom and fiddling with tampon or pad changes that you can cut out – hooray!
In fact, you can even go about your day for up to 12 hours (depending on your flow) before you need to empty and reinsert your cup.
Because it’s designed to create a gentle leakproof seal below your cervix, you can comfortably sleep, sit, stand, swim and even cartwheel with confidence (note: only if you already know how to cartwheel).
What if my cup is uncomfortable?
The Hello Cup is specifically designed to be super comfortable, but, on the rare occasion you feel it, it’s likely because of one of two issues:
-
You just need to practice inserting the cup. We get it - it can be a little daunting at first and may take a bit of time to get just right. But once you’ve got it down, you’ll be able to do it with your eyes shut.
- You may need a different size. The key to that perfect, can’t-feel-it fit is finding the size of Hello Cup that’s just right for you (more info on that here). This is mainly about the positioning of your cervix, your age and general fitness. It’s not a one-size-fits-all situation, but not to worry, because here’s a little handy guide we prepared earlier if you need a little help finding your size. We’ve even got double packs to help you find the sizing you prefer, plus a specialist low cervix cup for anyone who needs it. Once you’ve got that Cinderella fit, you’re good to go.
And just like that, your period game is revolutionized.
Hitting the beach? Easy. Running a marathon? No problem. Settled in for the evening and back to the rom-coms? Piece of cake.
